Night Terrors
Who doesn’t hear opening doors
and shrink beneath the covers
fighting the urge
to sweep the room with a flashlight?
You might see rodents
pretending to be socks, hats hunched
in a corner like feral cats about to spring,
or young children in pajamas at your bedside
staring with your eyes, God!
Their horrifying smallness and needs.Appeared in The Moth
